Find out error in the following sentences if any and mark Sr. no. of the relative part. In case of no error mark Sr no.5.

Following parts a,b,c,d forming a complete sentence may contain an error in any of these. Identify and find out the error and mark the relative part accordingly.If there is no error in the sentence mark part e.


1. 
(a) The new model of this mobile phone may 
(b) likely be available in the market during the month
(c) of December this year and it will cost much
(d) higher than the cost of the present model.
(e) No Error. 

(Ans. Error of superfluous word. may be and is likely have the same meaning so either of the two is required here.)
 



2. 
(a) As the little child sat down on 
(b)the ground to count his coins, a 
(c) five rupee coin slipped unnoticed from 
(d) his hand and went down the table.
(e) No Error.

(Ans.  Error of preposition. Instead of 'went down', it should be 'went under'.)

3. 

(a) Everyone member present in the meeting
(b) participated in the deliberations actively
(c) as everyone was interested to find
(d) out a favourable solution of the issue.
(e) No Error.

(Ans. Error of part of speech. Everyone is a pronoun, member is a noun, with it an adjective every is required. Every member.)

(d) to cover his shortcomings,
(e) No Error.

(Ans. Error of part of speech. Pure is an adjective, but an adverb purely is required here. Purely fabricated story.)

(e) No Error.

(Ans. Incorrect placement part of speech. She had walked hardly upto)

(e) No Error.
 

(Ans. Error of part of speech. Perform is a verb and to describe it an adverb is required.  not perform well)


7. 

(a) The dinner party scheduled to 
(b) be hosted by the President on
(c) Sunday postponed to some future
(d) date due to unknown reasons.
(e) No Error.


(Ans. Error of part of speech. It is in passive voice so ' was postponed' is correct.)


8. 

(a) The government is making efforts to
(b)  providing places of stay for  tourists
(c)  at cheaper rates at all tourist spots
(d)  across the country to promote tourism.
(e) No Error.

(Ans. In place of to prividing it should be to provide)


9. 

(a) All the staff members were instructed
(b) that each of the loan to be disbursed to 
(c) borrowers must carry prior approval of the
(d) manager before it is disbursed.
(e) No error


(Ans. Error of part of speech. Each is a pronoun here so loans instead of loan. Or use each as adjective 'each loan' )

10. 

(a)  Over the years, I have found 
 (b) that spending time alone
 (c) in natural surroundings connect me 
(d) to the larger universe around me.
(e) No Error.

(Ans. Preposition error. 'Connect me with')

11. 

(a) All the boys following
 the thief ran
(b) after him till the end of the 
 (c) street but could not catch him 
(d) as he disappeared thereafter in darkness. 
(e) No Error.

(Ans. Preposition error. 'to instead of 'till'. 'Ran.....to the end.')
