EXERCISE NO. 2.
1. D. The word 'Approach' itself means 'come near to' or 'to be in proximity'. Both the words 'near and to' are incorrect. It is not followed by 'near' nor by any preposition like 'to'.
2. D. 'Awaiting for trial' is not correct. The word await is not followed by preposition 'for'. It should be either 'awaiting his trial' or 'waiting for his trial.'
3. E No error.
4. D. It is always 'cognizant of'' and not 'cognizant about'. It means one is aware of or has the knowledge of.

3. A. It is incorrect to say 'according to my opinion'. I should be either 'according to me' or 'in my opinion'. Both these versions are correct.
4. A. Instead of 'The lady was so absorbed with..' it should be ' The lady was so absorbed in..'. meaning deeply focused on or engrossed. 'Absorbed with' means to soak a liquid etc with some material like cloth etc.
5. D. The word Combat itself means to fight against. It is not followed by preposition 'against'. It should be combat terrorism.

Delete2.Verb is required for the word Sticking(of bills ...upto walls is with sticking and not separate) Sticking is singular. It will be 'is' and not 'are'. Your reply is correct.

4.Word 'Marry' needs no preposition. As 'A married B'. In its passive voice it will be 'B was married to A'. Now if we go for its interrogative form it will be 'To whom was married B ?'It will be 'To whom will he marry?' Sometimes it is also written'Whom will he marry' Anyhow it is OK.
5. Assent is followed by prepositions as follows:
