Read the following paragraph and answer the questions following it.

In a world increasingly defined by constant connectivity, noise, and the demand for instant responsiveness, solitude has become a rare luxury. Often confounded with loneliness, solitude is fundamentally different: while loneliness is marked by a painful sense of isolation, solitude is a voluntary, fruitful state of being alone. It is not an escape from society, but rather an essential return to oneself.

Solitude allows a person to think deeply without being influenced by the opinions and expectations of others.  Writers, artists, scientists and thinkers have frequently valued periods of solitude because they provide the mental space necessary for creativity and reflection.

Solitude is also different from loneliness. Loneliness is generally an unwanted feeling of isolation, whereas solitude can be a conscious and positive choice. A person may enjoy solitude while still having strong relationships with family and friends. In fact, spending some time alone can make social relationships healthier because it helps individuals understand themselves better and appreciate the company of others.

However, excessive isolation can have negative consequences. Human beings are social by nature, and meaningful relationships are essential for emotional well-being. Therefore, solitude should not become an excuse for completely withdrawing from society. The ideal approach is to maintain a healthy balance between social interaction and personal time.

In conclusion, solitude is not necessarily a sign of emptiness or isolation. When chosen wisely, it can be a period of self-discovery, peace and intellectual growth.
